DFFCU now offers membership to the local community! The National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) has approved us for a community charter, which means we can now serve anyone who lives, works, attends school, worships, or volunteers in the Counties of Chesterfield, Henrico, Hanover and the City of Richmond.  This means more people can take advantage of our money-saving products and convenient services!  Our story. The Credit Union was organized in 1956 by employees of the DuPont Spruance facility located in Chesterfield County, VA.  The founding fathers kept track of the money given to them at the first meeting on scraps of paper. There was so much excitement about the Credit Union that over 700 employees joined within the first month.  Because of our continued long-term relationship with DuPont Spruance and the partnerships we have established with our 150 Select Employee Groups, the Credit Union has grown to serve nearly 22,000 members from four member center locations. Membership use and support of the Credit Union cooperative have been the reasons for our growth and success over the last fifty-three years.  We are excited about the opportunity for the Credit Union to continue to prosper and grow by fostering existing relationships and building new ones.  Because of our new community charter, we will be able to offer more members of our community an alternative banking relationship by providing them with affordable Credit Union products and services.  How does this affect you as a member?  As a member of DFFCU, this change has no direct impact as you will continue to receive the same level of personal service as you do today. Indirectly, you will benefit as we continue to grow because we will be able to provide additional products and services to all members. Over the years the Credit Union has continued to introduce new products, online services and additional locations to make banking with us more convenient.  Without new members, the Credit Union would not have been able to do this. So, please help us spread the word about DFFCU by telling more people in our community who are looking for a new banking relationship. They can now join the Credit Union and take advantage of our affordable products and services.
